Kiss my a$$ temptation!

Last night hubby and I went out to some friends for a game night, we were about 10+ couples all playing different games and we had a great time. Everyone brought a dish of something to eat and there were lots and lots of sweets and fattening things galore. The food looked like temptation and believe me I would have loved to eat a brownie but lucky for me the real temptation was visual and nothing more. I noticed that, if I see or smell something I'll think hmm, that seems like a tasty idea but I don't physically crave it so all I have to do is ignore the call of smell and vision.

Hubby didn't resist, he had a bit of everything, I had a bottle of water. Don't get me wrong, every time someone had a chocolate brownie or some chips with dip, I was thinking wow that sure looks good or smells good, but I didn't want to tempt myself out of fear that one brownie would trigger an onset of cravings which I don't feel ready to deal with just yet because I'm a binger and I've only been on the South Beach Diet for 3 1/2 weeks.

Another thing that helped me stay the course was the fact that I had been trying on jeans before we left, I used to wear a 26-28 and the truth be told only one pair fit, I think if I went shopping I'd have to buy 30-32 if not higher. So anyway, I tried on a pair of jeans without looking at the size in them (don't really know why, usually I always look) and they fit (but tight!) so I showed hubby who liked my ass in them and I told him I'd need to lose another 10 pounds for them to properly fit which was nice because come April I'd have a cute pair of capri's to wear. So as I'm putting them away I decide to look at the size and they are a size 20W so I was dancing like a mad lady because I could fit in a tight size 20W, then I tried a pair of jeans that I hadn't worn in over a year and they fit me well (size 24) and those are the ones I wore last night.

Here are some pics of me yesterday at 276 pounds...

Here are some before (Sept 08) the South Beach Diet (I think I was 298 or 299 in these pics)

In all fairness to myself the pictures don't resemble one another so its hard to do a fair comparison but I still see no real difference. I'm guessing 24 pounds is not enough when you are morbidly obese before you start to see a difference. But that's OK, I'll be posting pictures on a monthly basis and eventually there will be an obvious difference!

Here's hubby's favorite pic, he calls it my sexy pic, he says that he see's the potential slim and sexy woman in me in this one LOL! Don't laugh!

I'll post later on about my food experiences on Phase 2 of the plan, in the meantime it's after 1:00am and hubby is fast asleep time to go walk the dog and go to bed!

Thanks!

Phase II Day 1

Well, we are now officially on Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet. I never thought this day would come, I know that sounds silly but its true. I went to Walmart last night to buy some food and brought my trusty South Beach Diet book and had $40.00 to spend.

I did OK, I had some choices to make, pasta or rice, I've never been a rice person so whole wheat pasta won, I could find the steel cut oats (or something like that) so I got Shredded Wheat instead, I got some sugar/fat free pudding (will eat one this weekend) and a few odds and ends.

I don't know if I mentioned how my neighbor gets me fruits/veggies cheap, i.e. if I get tomatoes, garlic, broccoli, spinach etc... it goes in one bag and costs $1.00 so that's pretty good, oh and he works at an organic store so it's all organic too. For some reason though he refuses to get me spinach. I don't know why, I keep asking and never get it, I get arugula which has a nice bitter taste to it that I enjoy mixed in other salads, or mache aka lamb's lettuce I don't know why he won't bring me spinach LOL. So I bought spinach from Walmart because I'm addicted to the stuff and feel like something's missing if I don't have a bag in the house. I put spinach in everything from eggs, chicken, beef whatever meal is cooking I throw in spinach.

I just completed the Leslie Sansone Get Up & Get Started 1 mile, I also joined LiveStrong.com and set up a dare for myself to walk 20 minutes a day (this is where Leslie's workouts come in). I got an email from Leslie's website the other day...

If you walk everyday for 30 minutes, you can expect to drop 2 lbs. per week. That means you'll be 12 lbs. slimmer in six weeks! Get a jump start before Spring - less than 2 weeks away!

All I could think of was I want to do this, I actually want to exercise, it's actually bugging me that I have not done so on a regular basis. Being fat is exhausting and I know that's what makes me dread the actual act known as movement.

I'm proud, I did good today, I worked out, took the dog out (will do so again after this post) and I'm invited to a couple's game night tonight so hubby and I plan on eating first then going to game night, then coming home to a delicious portion of jell-o :D

South Beach Diet Day 21 or is it 22

Ok, it's day 22 of the South Beach Diet. I've lost 21 pounds in 3 weeks! I'm thrilled with the results, I haven't weighed 278 (I always want to write 178 hmm)in so long. I have no plans on sticking with this weight either, I plan on going down, down, down!!

Hubby started working at his new job and has different shifts so I no longer eating 3 meals a day with him which has some positives and some negatives.

The Good
I no longer have to work so hard at being creative. I can eat the same thing every day and not complain about it, I don't really need too much variety, as long as its easy, I'm there. I'm trying to get the mindset that food is fuel and nothing more.

The Bad
I feel as though I'm cheating myself somehow because then I'm not trying to create various types of meals which will help me in the long run. I mean how can I possibly live on a plan forever if I always eat the same things, now it doesn't bother me but history tells me it will. Next thing I know I'll be binging and that's dangerous because I don't recuperate from binges.

So far I haven't really exercised like I promised. This has to stop (or start). I do go out with the dog but I don't move enough, the cold weather has stifled me quite a bit or maybe that's my excuse.
